After School Arts

After School Arts has been on pause since March 13th 2020 due to COVID.

The After School Arts program has run since the fall of 2018 and represents a collaboration with the local primary school École de la Petite-Bourgogne, and with their after school program, or Service de garde. This program enables students from grades 1-6 to take advantage of free weekly music, theatre and creative writing workshops. The theatre workshops in the winter of 2019 were made possible due to collaborations with the Teesri Duniya Theatre company. In the fall of 2019 we collaborated with Michael Farkas of Youth In Motion to offer several theatre workshops with a focus on the life and times of Viola Desmond. Thanks to The Little Burgundy Sports Center and Le Salon 1861 for the generous use of their spaces in which to hold these arts workshops.

Digital Music Creation & Editing

One of our professional musicians and teachers from the Youth Music Network will introduce students returning for a second year to digital music. Using our acoustic instruments, GarageBand and other digital programs, students will learn to compose their own music, play, record and mix it. They will get to be both musicians and producers all in one while creating their own music! These workshops are part of our Digital South-West program.

Theatre - Social Justice 101:

Everyone Deserves a turn

This winter, theatre workshops will focus on the theme of social justice. Each week will address a different issue related to social justice. Concepts and examples will be based on the idea that everyone deserves a turn. With this series of workshops children will build confidence, learn communication and creativity skills, all while having fun. Our goal is to help youth tune into, develop and express a personalised voice, which will help them in their interpersonal relationships as well as their academic development and beyond. Imagine. Inspire. Empower.
